UCLA wide receiver, Nick Pasquale, died early Sunday after being hit by a car.

The accident took place around 1:30 a.m. on Camino De Los Mares. Pasquale, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Pasquale was walking in a residential San Clemente Neighborhood. A driver collided into Pasquale while he was crossing the street.

The driver stayed at the scene of the accident and called the police. The driver’s name has not been released. Police questioned the driver, and the driver was later released. Investigators do not believe that the driver was using drugs or drinking. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Pasquale was a walk on for the UCLA football team. He was a redshirt freshman, and he had not played for UCLA this season. Pasquale usually worked with the scout team. He had the weekend off so he had gone to San Clemente for the weekend.

Nick Pasquale was not only a UCLA wide receiver but also a San Clemente High School graduate.  After his death, Pasquale’s family, friends, current and former teammates, and coaches gathered at San Clemente High’s football field to honor his memory. He was remembered as a hardworking teammate and a role model.
