Two separate car accidents, within a period of 24 hours, result in two deaths.

A woman crossing Katella Avenue at Gilbert Street passed away due to her injuries she sustained from a Taxi hit and run. The hit and run occurred Wednesday morning. Police are looking for the driver. The vehicle was a yellow taxi minivan. The driver is male and yet to be identified. Witnesses reported seeing him driving south on Meridian lane. According to Officer Ray Payton of California Highway patrol, the van will most likely have front-end damage.

The victim has not been identified. She was hit while crossing the street in the marked crosswalk while pushing an unoccupied wheelchair. The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. The van was traveling west at approximately 40 mph. He drove through the green light and hit the woman and then quickly sped off.

The woman was then taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. She was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. No other information is known about the driver. If any individuals have more information, please call the California High way patrol at 949-559-7888.

This is the second traffic fatality that has been reported in Orange County. Tuesday night a 29-year-old Buena Park woman was struck by a pickup Tuesday night. The accident occurred on Dale Avenue and Broadway.  According to Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn, she was struck at approximately 9:35 p.m. She later died from her injuries the following morning.

She had retained extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the UCI Medical center in Orange. This woman’s identity has not been released. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and no arrests have been made.
