Two Men Flee After Car Accident

Two possibly armed men fled from the scene, after a vehicle struck an apartment building.

The accident occurred in Stanton, Orange County. Deputies, around 4 p.m., tried to stop a silver Lexus for a vehicle code violation. The Lexus was traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated and turned left onto Plaza Way.

During this sharp turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and she drove into an empty apartment unit. The vehicle and apartment were severely damaged.

After the crash, two men fled the scene on foot. Witnesses said that the two men continued to run down Plaza Way, and then the men split up and ran in different directions.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle, under debris. She had to be cut out of the vehicle. The driver was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition. While inspecting the car, Investigators found a handgun and narcotics in the vehicle. Investigators have not found out why the driver had these items in her car.

After the crash, Deputies used police dogs and a helicopter search the area for the two males. The men have not been located. The two men were both Asian. One of the men was wearing all black. The other man was in a white T-shirt and black pants.  No other information is known about these individuals.

It is not known if the driver or her passengers were impaired. The current condition of the driver is unknown. The Orange County Sheriff department is asking for any additional information.

Luckily, the apartment was empty, and no other individuals were hurt. This car could have run into another vehicle. The driver could have even struck a pedestrian.

If you are on the road and you see an out of control driver, there are a couple things you should do. First stay as far as away from the other vehicle as possible. Secondly, do not try to pass the vehicle. This could result in a collision. Third, try to get the license plate number of the car. You should also take note of the vehicle’s make, model, and color. After you have this information, pull over and call 911. Give the location of the vehicle. You should also include the name of the road and any cross streets. It is also helpful to describe the manner the vehicle is driving.
