High Speed Chase in Lake Forest

A high-speed chase through the city leads to two arrests.

On Wednesday morning, California Highway Patrol officers pulled over to check on a gold 2005 Ford explorer on the side of road. The vehicle was at the 241 toll road and Alton Parkway. When the driver saw that the patrol car was pulling over, she drove back onto the freeway.

The driver was speeding at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. She exited at Lake Forest Drive and headed toward Foothill Ranch. The officers followed the SUV through Foothill Ranch, but the suspect weaved through shopping areas back toward Alton.

After the driver ran through multiple red lights, the California Highway patrol temporarily stopped pursuit. Officers caught up with the suspect on the 241 headed south. The driver exited the freeway at Irvine Boulevard and turned right onto Lake Forest Drive.

The driver drove toward Trabuco Road. She turned into a Ralph’s parking lot, and she proceeded to crash into bushes. The suspect quickly exited the vehicle and ran through the parking lot. She proceeded to run into a CVS pharmacy next to the grocery store.

Luckily, an off-duty deputy was in CVS, and the suspect was taken into custody. The passenger of the vehicle did not flee the vehicle. Both individuals were arrested on suspicion of felony evading and stealing an SUV.

The stolen vehicle was purchased on January 19th by a Laguna Woods resident. It was reported stolen on Tuesday night.

Fortunately, no injuries or crashes, related to this accident, were reported. This high-speed chase could have injured many people.

If you see a car speeding through the street, it is best to pull over. Do not try to stop the vehicle. This could put you in danger. If you believe that the driver is impaired or involved in illegal activity, you can also notify the authorities. Try to take note of the license plate number. It is also helpful to remember the make and model of the vehicle.

Car accidents are very horrific. If you are the victim of a car accident, there are legal resources available to protect your rights. Insurance may cover some of the damages, but a car accident lawyer can help you seek maximum damages for the losses you have experienced.

Toppled Crane Closes Freeway Connector

A toppled crane forced authorities to close the eastbound 22 to the northbound 605 freeway connector for several hours.

The construction crane fell onto the single-lane connector around 4:30 p.m. It was part of a roadway construction project. Authorities thought the connector would be closed for a couple days, but a crew was able to clean up and remove the crew in a couple hours. The freeway connector was open later in the evening.

Luckily, no vehicles were struck by the crane. There have been no reports of injuries. Currently, authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse.

If you are ever a witness to such an incident, here are some key tips to keep in mind. These tips will guide you through handling reporting a car accident.

If you are the first person at the scene, pull completely off the road. You should try to be 100 feet or more away from the scene of the collision. Turn on your emergency flashers. This will help emergency personnel see the collision.

You should keep your distance from the vehicle. See if you can tell if anyone is injured. Do not touch any one. Just try to gather as much information about the incident as you can. Do not move anyone from the vehicle unless he or she is a burning vehicle or imminent danger. If you move an injured person, you can increase the injuries.

Call 9-1-1. Be prepared to answer questions regarding location of the emergency and injuries. You should take note of any cross streets or freeway information. You may also need to report if anyone is bleeding or unconscious.

Stay at the scene at least until authorities arrive. If you have a camera, try to take photos of the damage. Give these photos to the authorities and drivers. Take notes of other information like make and model of the vehicles involved. It is also important to write the license plate down.

Car accidents are incredibly traumatic, and being a witness to a car accident can also be quite difficult. Hopefully, these steps will help lessen the stress of witnessing a car accident. Multiple Cars Hit and then Kill Pedestrian

A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by at least two vehicles.

The man was struck early Friday morning on Alicia Parkway in Mission Viejo. Two drivers hit the man, and both of these drivers stopped. Authorities believe there may have been one or two more vehicles that hit the victim but did not stop.

This horrific crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the street near Coronel drive. It is believed that the rain, slick road, and darkness may have contributed to the accident. Investigators will be also investigating the possibility that the man was not walking in the crosswalk and walking against a red light.

The first driver believes that he heard the man being struck by one or two more vehicles that proceeded to drive off. Another driver ran over the man when he was lying on the floor, but he did not flee the scene.

Locals said that this area can be a dangerous area for pedestrians and motorists. Many locals stated that cars often run red lights on this street. One local said that there is blind spot near the crash location.

Investigators from the Major Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash. Sheriff officials are also asking for any additional information. No arrests or citations have been made thus far.

In wet and dark driving conditions, it is important for drivers to have their headlights on. Drivers should remember to drive slowly and carefully. Windshield wipers are also very important for improving visibility. Accidents like these can happen to anyone. Everyone on the road must be careful and aware of not only other drivers but also pedestrians.

This is a very sad accident. Thankfully, two of the drivers were responsible upright citizens. Hopefully, investigators and authorities will be able to piece together the cause of the accident. This victim has not been identified, and his family has not been notified yet.

Pedestrian Dies in Crash

A man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Garden Grove Street, Tuesday evening.

The pedestrian was running across Chapman Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle. Police and Firefighters arrived at the scene around 6:40 p.m. The victim was a man in his 50s. He was taken to UCI Medical center for his injuries, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a black Saab 900S. It is believed that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Chapman Avenue. The vehicle ran into the pedestrian as he ran northbound across Chapman Avenue.

The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk. Witnesses said that it looked like he was running to catch a bus. According to witnesses, the pedestrian fell into the street after crossing the center divider.  The pedestrian was not able to get up, and he was run over by the Saab.

The driver stayed at the scene. He cooperated with the police. There have been no arrests or citations made. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.

This is a sad story that happens much too often. Although pedestrians have right of way, it is important to remember to follow road safety rules. Please remember to practice safe driving and pedestrian habits.

This accident occurred early in the evening. It was probably already dark out. At night, pedestrians should wear brightly colored or reflective clothing. This will ensure that drivers can see them. Flashlights are also helpful. A pedestrian should try to make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street. This will ensure that drivers can see them.

Pedestrians should only cross in marked areas. This will help protect pedestrians from such accidents. Drivers know that these marked areas exist, and they will drive more carefully when there is a marked area for pedestrians. Pedestrians are in a driver’s blind spot. Protect yourself by looking left and right before crossing. Do not run when crossing the street. You should always walk.

Avoid any distractions while crossing the street. Do not listen to music or use your phone while walking. It is important for pedestrians to focus on the road.

Car accidents involving pedestrians are always tragic. If you or a loved one was the victim of a car accident, there are legal institutions in place to protect your rights. A car accident lawyer can help you seek maximum damages for any losses you may have experienced.
