Anaheim is located in Orange County, California. It is the most populated city in Orange County, and one of the most populated cities in California. According to the 2010 United States Census, its population was 336, 265. The name “Anaheim” is derived from the combination of “Ana” and “heim.” The “Ana” portion comes from the Santa Ana River, and “heim” is a common German word for home.

In 1857, Anaheim was founded by grape farmers and winemakers. Sadly, the grape industry was destroyed in the 1889s by an insect invasion. The grapes were replaced with other crops like walnuts, lemons, and oranges.

Anaheim was a large rural community with orange groves. Bennett Payne Baxter owned large parcels of this land. His property in north east Anaheim is the modern day location of the Angel Stadium. Baxter is responsible for helping Anaheim becoming a thriving farming community.
